Digital Green eXtension Fellowship Call for Application Is Open
Are you interested in Extension approaches that have been tested and proven in other countries? Do you enjoy working with innovative digital technologies? Digital Green and eXtension are partnering to fund a Fellowship project in 2017. The Fellow will work with the 2017 Food Systems Issue Corps to explore ways to apply models used in Africa and Asia to U.S. Extension. Are You Ready to Become a Thought Leader?
In Extension, we often know of great information and resources that would benefit our clientele. Are we deliberate about sharing credible information and helping people discover our Extension System? Paul Hill, with Utah State University, is a former eXtension Fellow and currently part of the eXtension Innovation Lab. He recently gave a presentation on “Thought Leadership”. Paul has also written a blog post on how to manage information flow and curate thought leadership. He makes a compelling case that Extension Professionals need to work at developing their reputations as thought leaders and offers tips to get started.

National Pesticide Safety Education Center
The National Pesticide Safety Education Center has launched with the hire of Tom Smith as Executive Director and Kerry Richards as Educational Program Developer. The Center will support state pesticide safety education programs by identifying existing tools and resources and create new resources. eXtension will serve as the legal and financial home for the Center during this startup phase and also provide a catalog of offerings by the Center and state programs. Cooperative Extension & Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Culture of Health Partnership
A two-part webinar series is scheduled to learn more about a new partnership between Cooperative Extension and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. The purpose of the 10-year partnership is to build a Culture of Health in communities across America in 2017 and beyond. In March, Cooperative Extension Service institutions can apply. Five will be selected as pilots this summer to launch the program. All institutions will have the chance to engage in other ways, including professional development opportunities. EdTechLN Founders Receive JCEP Award
Four founding members of the Ed Tech Learning Network (EdTechLN) received the Award for Creative Excellence at the Joint Council of Extension Professionals (JCEP) held in February. They include Jamie Seger and Jerry Thomas, Ohio State University; Paul Hill, Utah State University; and Barbara Chamberlin, New Mexico State University. Jamie and Paul were present at the conference to receive the award as well as to present as part of the nationally-broadcast JCEP Virtual Town Hall. National Health Insurance Survey for Farmers
Do you work with farmers? Do you want to contribute to an effort to learn more about how health insurance policy affects farmers? A multi-state research and extension project has developed a survey with the goal of understanding what portions of health insurance are working well for farmers and where modifications need to be made.
